Your Role at Trineo: Senior Solution Analyst I

How long have you been at Trineo and what is your secret to achieving success in your role? I’ve been at Trineo for almost 4 years. It is important to keep in mind that there’s always something new to learn, to be considerate of others, and to know your strengths and your teammates’ strengths for effective collaboration.

Three words that describe you: Dynamic, easy-going, practical

What do you do in your spare time, do you have any hobbies? I enjoy going to hip-hop dance classes, although I haven’t done as much since lockdown. I like doing different crafts as well. I’ve recently done a pottery class with my best friend, which I found really enjoyable. I hang out in cafes while scrapbooking, writing, and doodling in my personal journal. I also like going out and about, playing board games, karaoke, going to the beach, going to markets, and trying different activities with my friends.

Share with us a high level of your professional background prior to Trineo. I worked at a Telco company as a Business Analyst for my first job back in the Philippines. There I was exposed to a very corporate work environment and I learned the basics of end-to-end project delivery. Two years later, I heard about Salesforce from a good friend and I ended up moving to a medium-sized company. I was very lucky to have had a highly supportive team and formal training which led me to a job opportunity offered by a recruitment company here in New Zealand.
Working in a different country for the first time had me in a bit of a culture shock, plus moving from a company with 300+ people in Manila to a 5-man team in Auckland was interesting. Although it was short-lived, I was able to further develop both my technical and soft skills by wearing multiple hats, given we had to make do with a small team. After that was the start of my Trineo adventure!

What would you say was a catalyst or turning point in your career? Moving to New Zealand was definitely a game-changer for me. Adjusting to the culture, the work pace, the way of communicating (even learning the slang and the banter. like, what!). Definitely an eye-opening experience. I also found that being exposed to a diverse team gives a much wider perspective in problem-solving, which definitely helped me become more flexible and versatile in my career.

In three words, how would you describe Trineo’s culture? Inclusive, high-performing, and fun-loving

What do you like most about working at Trineo? The people, the values, and learning from the brilliant minds of the team.

Can you share an interesting, fun fact that most people don’t know about you? My nickname “Coi” is short for “Butchokoy” which means “chubby kid” in the Philippines (my dad said I had munchkin toes when I was a baby)

What is something on your bucket list that you have recently checked off or want to do? The Kawarau Bridge Bungy! That was fun! Next on the list is either snowboarding, surfing, or skydiving!
